This is the third book in the Too Far series by Abbi Glines. It is full length, has rock stars, lots of drama, a wedding, a baby, and a girl with a gun. Oh yah there is also some great steamy scenes!Rush Findlay is the son of a famous drummer. He use to live a rich, wild life now he just lives each day for Blaire. Blaire Wynn is in love with Rush they are engaged and can’t wait to get married but first they need to settle some family issues. Blaire’s is afraid the Rush’s family will always get in the way of their relationship. Hopefully Rush can prove that he will always put Blaire first. This is the best book of the three in the series as far as I am concerned. A lot of the over the top family drama has already been revealed (although the author throws in a little more) and its more of handling the issues within the family that are already known. You get a glimpse into some of the side characters stories which is getting you ready for the books to come. I like this one the best as well because Rush finally feels settled and committed, he stumbles a little bit, but he has finally learned from past mistakes, quickly recovers and does the right thing. Anyway, this book was worth the read and the price. Enjoy!

'Rush grinned. "Glad you agree there's no more waiting. I'm ready to get lost up in my heaven again"I stopped walking and stood on my tiptoes to kiss his cheek. "I love you, Rush Finlay.""Good 'cause I'm not ever letting your sexy ass get too far away from me again.""How far is too far?" I asked."It's all too far. I want you right here beside me...forever."'When I first read Fallen Too Far the first book in this trilogy, I was hooked! I fell in lover, instantly with Rush and Blaire. I couldn't wait for the second book, and when I finally got it, I read it through in one sitting, staying up to finish, knowing I had to go to work the next day. The brilliant Abbi Glines heard all of her fans begging for me, and she gave it to us! Rush and Blaire still had more to give, more to say, and we wanted more. So, thank you Abbi for giving them their happy ending. This last installment of Rush and Blaire's story was not the best of the three, since the first two were brilliant, but this was of course still very enjoyable (and dare I say, even a bit naughtier?). Forever Too Far begins just about where the last installment left us. Blaire and Rush are together, in utter love with each other, waiting on the baby to be born, but there are still some barriers to their relationship. Notably, Rush's family. Well, not all of his family, mostly just Nan and Rush's mom. We meet Dean, Rush's dad, the rock god, who quickly became one of my favorite characters. He was hilarious! Rush was fiercely protective of Blaire, as usual, even when Dean first meets Blaire.'Dean chuckled. "Like father, like son.""I.m nothing like you. The woman I got pregnant happens to be my heart. I'll marry her and spend the rest of my life doing everything I can to make her smile."'But Rush had nothing to prove to Dean. Dean could see that Rush was head over heels in love with Blaire. And, of course Rush made that clear to anyone who questioned his love for this woman who, honestly he had not known too long before falling deeply.'"When she walked into my house the first time and I laid eyes on her I was attracted to her. That part was easy. But then I got to know her. She wasn't like any other girl I'd even known. She was so determined when she should have been beat down. Her life had given her s*** and she was fighting to live. She wasn't going to back down or give up. I admired her. Then I got a taste and I was sunk. She's everything I want to be."'And, this is why I fell in love with Rush (and loved the first book, even with that heart breaking cliffhanger ending). The wedge, also known as Nan (Rush's sister) that was trying to get between these two created some much needed drama in this installment. What Abbi is really good at writing (besides those sexy scenes) is angsty relationships. Forever Too Far, since it was really Rush and Blaire's swan song, had less of the angst that I love reading from Abbi, but Nan was a good catalyst for that. And, it was handled really well.Other than the angsty scenes, and the sexy scenes,, the best section of this book for me was when Blaire was preparing for her wedding, and Rush sent her some gifts. This is such a tender moment, and I don't want to go any further with describing, lest I spoil it for the next reader. But, I'll just say, I shed several (happy) tears, along with Blaire. In this last installment, we had Blaire and Rush's point of views in alternating chapters, but we also get a chapter of two for each from Grant's POV, and a new character, Harlow (who happens to be related to Nan). So, I guess we have a pretty good idea who Grant's books will center around (although I'm sure Nan will rear her ugly head too!).In short, this is a fitting ending to the Rush and Blaire story, although not as intense as the first two. Still, a MUST read, particularly for any Abbi Glines fan.

Book 3 was pointless. It was more of the same. Blaire and her sweet innocence. Rush acting totally p-whipped and crazy Nan with her childish antics. When we met Rush he was bad-boy and cool. Now he is a puppy dog drooling after his sugary sweet girlfriend. I wanted to choke Nan. She was super annoying and no brother would continually chase after her and put up with her crap. I never really liked Blaire to begin with. She is too country bumpkin for me! Is anybody with me on that one? I guess the author felt the need to wrap up B&R's story by getting them married and the baby being born but it was all very mundane. Rush's dad, Dean and Nan's dad, Kiro get more time in this book. But honestly, they read like scumbag white trash. It was embarrassing. If you read Book 1 (which was the best) and Book 2, there is no need to suffer through Book 3. Skip it!

I’ve read this book so many times. Rush and Blaire are expecting Nate soon and getting married and of course having to help with Nan’s crazy self. They have some problems but always work it out. I love Rush’s love for Blaire. He’s such a strong, possessive man but so sweet and giving to Blaire. Blaire is perfect. She’s so forgiving and loving. They are both great characters and perfect for each other. Again, Blaire’s grief over her mom still hurts my heart. Her struggles around the holidays and seeing her Dad made me cry. I like Dean as well. I love how he is towards Blaire. The storyline was great as was the writing. The characters are always great. The book is a page turner because their story is entertaining. The ending is great. Blaire can be a complete bad@$$. LOL With her gun! This is definitely a series I’d recommend to everyone.

Otter's Journey through Indigenous Language and Law

Review

Otter’s Journey employs the Anishinaabe tradition of storytelling to explore how Indigenous language revitalization can inform the emerging field of Indigenous legal revitalization. Indigenous languages and laws need bodies to live in. Learning an endangered language and a suppressed legal system are similar experiences. When we bring language back to life, it becomes a medium for developing human relationships. Likewise, when laws are written on people’s hearts, true revitalization has occurred. Storytelling has the capacity to address feelings and demonstrate themes – to illuminate beyond argument and theoretical exposition. In Otter’s Journey, Lindsay Keegitah Borrows follows Otter, a dodem (clan) relation from the Chippewas of Nawash First Nation, on a journey across Anishinaabe, Inuit, Māori, Coast Salish, and Abenaki territories, through a narrative of Indigenous resurgence. While Otter’s Journey is guided by a literal truth, it also splices and recombines real-world events and characters. Through her engaging protagonist, Borrows reveals that the processes, philosophies, and practices flowing from Indigenous languages and laws can emerge from under the layers of colonial laws, policies, and languages to become guiding principles in people’s contemporary lives. We need the best of all people’s teachings to lead us into the future.

Review

Otter's Journey offers a vibrant account of the possibilities and importance of Indigenous language revitalization. Weaving oral narrative, prose fiction, and autobiography, Lindsay Borrows models a scholarly practice grounded in family, community, and storytelling. This is an important academic contribution – and also a new work of Indigenous literature by an emerging writer of considerable skill. (Keavy Martin, author of Stories in a New Skin: Approaches to Inuit Literature, and associate professor in the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta)Otter’s Journey holds the potential to change the way people think about and, in turn, talk about Indigenous laws and Indigenous language acquisition and reacquisition ... The elemental way in which legal storytelling is embedded in the text makes Indigenous laws and language normative, not as things to be justified or even accommodated. Eloquent, poetic, and lyrical, this book marks a rare and even generational shift in the dialogue by and about Indigenous peoples. (Tracey Lindberg, author of Birdie, and professor of law and University Research Chair in Indigenous Laws, Legal Orders and Traditions at the University of Ottawa)
