First let me start off by saying I am not Wiccan, though I am a magickal practitioner. I only mention it because the author is wiccan yet I still eat up her knowledge gratefully. I have several of her books (all ebooks) and have learned so much from them. I prefer what I call my"books of knowledge" to be in paper form because I highlight the crap out of everything I have a use for, so when I go back and reread, I can skip any jargon that's not needed, however any time this author has a sale on an ebook I am notified via email so consequently all the books I have of hers are ebook. This is not a problem for me. I buy a new composition book for each ebook and as I work my way through, it goes down in the comp book. Easy.I have several books that give their version of color correspondence as well as this one. I only use what resonates with ME no matter where it comes from. I like this book in particular because she explains the color in detail. What it means, how to use it, Chakra correlation if any, astrological associations etc. She is very thorough.After each color she adds in great detail 3 - 4 magickal workings from bath, kitchen witchery, divination,$$ and so much more. There are quite a few spells given considering how many colors she covers. She also gives explanations and examples which I find extremely helpful. She doesn't just say "do this" she will say "do this, and here's why and here's an example of you can do it" Even if you believe you have your candle color correlations locked down tight I would still recommend this book to you. I used the info in this book to enhance my already tried and true color meanings to great success and I learned new things as well.

I have many books by Lisa and all of them make my Wicca practice so simple, so pleasurable and joyful. As a beginner in this craft, her book gives me a lot to start in a simple way! Today I purchased this book and I already scrolled down seeing beautiful rituals I so want to incorporate into my routines. I love candles and colors magick! Thank you, Lisa, so much!!!

They keep the book simple and easy to read. Great for someone starting out but have a little of knowledge of how this thing works. At the end of the day, it’s all about strengthening your mind lies where things manifest minus the tools.

This book will be a quick read but also a wonderful addition to my reference library. 157 pages and very easy to read and follow spells. Thank you, Lisa

Love the book and I normally work with white candles or if it is a certain spell /sabbat. The only thing I wish you had written more about is Ceromancy. That's something I'm interested in but I can find ANY books here or in Amazon on the subject, so if anyone knows any books please let me know. Thanks and Blessed Be.

It's unfortunate that Ms. Nettel only has two novels in English. This is a very gifted writer. Her characters feel so lived-in, it's clear she's drawn a great deal from real life, as she did in her debut novel. Oftentimes, a writer doesn't make the leap from short stories to novels, but Nettel is actually better in novels where she can languish in her characters and explore their nuanced trajectories. There's nothing sentimental here, but the longing in her characters that she gets to is so achingly real, you become deeply, emotionally invested them. This writer deserves a way bigger audience in America. I'm reading a lot these days, and some of the best literature is coming from Latin writers. And the U.K. with the sensational Sally Rooney. Just a great book, one that will pull you in and leave you filled in that way that there's no real meaning of satiety anymore. I just wish she would quit teaching and write more. She has so much to say about the Latin ex-pat experience, about love, about heartbreak, people who are searching for meaning in a bleak and lonely world that is existentially alienating. This is a writer who feels deeply and has the talent and the craft to educe those feelings and draw them to the surface.

Narrated in the first person by two main characters: Claudio and Cecilia, this novel broke me and rebuilt me at the same time. Nettel is becoming one of the most important voices of latin american writing, follow her closely, do yourself that favor!

I can't put into words adequately how much I owe John W. Robinson and now his co-authors for the joy he and they helped me find in the wildernesses of Southern California. I lived away from Southern California for many years and now am back. Naturally, I checked out these two beloved classics, *Trails of the Angeles* and *San Bernardino Mountain Trails*, to see if they'd been updated. Yes, they have been, and they've been given new, sturdier maps! How I look forward to renewing my love of both ranges again with Robinson & Co.'s help! *Trails of the Angeles* covers many of my favorite dayhikes, especially Mt. Lowe and Mt. Baden-Powell. *San Bernardino Mountain Trails* took me on many backpacks with friends plus my first solo backpacks, and the book covers my favorite Southern California wildernesses, San Gorgonio and San Jacinto. You can't go wrong with these two gems. See you on the trail! (I'll append this review to *San Bernardino Mountain Trails*, too.)

This is probably the most thorough and well written hiking guide for the San Gabriel Mountains that you'll find. I can't compare this 9th edition with the previous versions as I don't have any of the previous editions, however, I can tell you that this book is rock solid. Although the author John W. Robinson is retired, he has turned over the reins to Dough Christiansen to keep the content updated and accurate. And the transition is seamless.Unlike some hiking guides that give you overview information about the hikes, John W. Robinson (and Doug Christiansen) get into the nitty gritty useful hike details without going overboard. And based on the hikes I'm familiar with, the hike descriptions are very accurate.Sure they might forget a detail here and there. Like forgetting to mention the famous "Echo Phone" at the top of Echo Mountain that everyone takes their picture with and shouts through. A curious omission for sure, but certainly not anything that would affect the quality of your hike.But the authors DO provide the key information that you need to know. For example, I did a pre-hike to Big Horn Mine for an upcoming group hike and found all the hike details spot on. Even down to trail details like, "The old wagon road is an easy walk except for a washout near the halfway point that may trouble beginners and young hikers."Along with the very thorough coverage of the hikes, TRAILS OF THE ANGELES also provides a lot of background information and history. Granted, some hikers may find this unnecessary and even consider it fluff, but I find it very useful, informative and enjoyable. All in all, this is superb hiking book. Along with Afoot and Afield: Inland Empire: A Comprehensive Hiking Guide and San Bernardino Mountain Trails: 100 Hikes in Southern California, this book will be a valuable resource for many years to come.

I've this book and John Robinson's guide to the San Bernardino Mountains since 1980. To me they are the easiest to use, have the most information, and best directions to the trail head of any book I have (which are quite a few). The 8th edition had some new hikes in it that are not in earlier editions because access has been closed to hikers by the land owners. The new map is much clearer and sturdier (waterproof) than earlier editions. Extra copies of the map can also be purchased separate from the book if needed/desired. This book is a classic and the hikes it lists cover and area from just west of the 14 freeway to the western edge of the San Bernardino National Forest. With this book and his guide to the San Bernardino Mountains, you have a list of 200 hikes that cover everything from desert to alpine wilderness hikes, covering an area from the 14 freeway to Anza Borrego State Park.The book has a chart listing the hikes and their rating in the back of the book. This is handy so you don't have to flip through the book looking for 'easy' hikes if you're going with someone who is in the best of shape. The only thing I wish the chart had info on the time of year to hike the trail. Even easy hikes on the front range of the San Gabriel's can be miserable mid-summer.

POPE FRANCIS was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio on 17 December 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. First, I think this book would benefit most by an update by the author that discussed the letter from Bohr which clearly implicated Heisenberg as attempting to develop a Nazi bomb and sought Bohr's aid, a letter that was released only a few years after the play was written.The play itself is gripping, though perhaps a bit repetitious, and I enjoyed reading it even more than viewing it in the theater where I think I missed some of the nuance of the text. It is a story of tragic and terrifying implication, and the author maintains an appropriate sense of tension and dread throughout. I don't know if it would appeal as much to a reader without at least some background in twentieth century physics and the seminal roles played by the characters of the play. I think it is important to have a sense of the greatness of the physics developed by the characters, and the state of excitement those developments engendered in the physics community of that time. In particular, Bohr's principal of complementarity is discussed at some length, but without any explication of its import, and as it is a difficult enough (even ephemeral, almost) an idea to begin to grasp, much of the attempt to resolve the conflict central to the play becomes quite murky.Nevertheless, I found it a wonderful play to read ( though I must admit to being an aficionado of the history of modern physics) which paints a fascinating picture of two of the greatest men in the history of science, grappling with the most horrifying implications of the genie they have helped release from the bottle.

COPENHAGEN is a play that welcomes a reading. The structure of pure dialogue between the physicists, Heisenberg, Bohr and Bohr's wife Margrethe( who represents the non-physicists in the audience) lends itself to the closer examination the written word gives us. Michael Frayn brilliantly imagines a moment frozen in time- Heisenberg arrives from Germany in 1941 to discuss something with his mentor, Bohr in occupied Copenhagen. Seizing upon this historical event and its mysterious circumstances, Frayn recreates the event from a variety of perspectives in pursuit of a greater truth. Was Heisenberg a hero, who kept the Nazi's from achieving the ultimate weapon, or a victim of his own carelessness? Reading the play, gives you the time to reflect upon how creatively Frayn frames each of his scenarios. The dialogue is never less than challenging, even while playing to the audience surrogate, Margrethe. Frayn uses these two great minds to introduce the audience into the realm of advanced physics and the moral ambiguities involved in the mixing of pure science with the nature of war. The forced civility between the two men emphasizes the underlying current of terror created by the Nazis rise to power and the oncoming dawn of an atomic age. Frayn does not offer any easy answers, to do so would be an insult to the wonderful work that has gone on before. The postscript alone is worth the price of the book for any fan of the play. It sets up the historical context for the play's creation and gives the reader a much greater understanding of where Frayn came up with many of the issues he examines in this work.

Frayn's play deals with Heisenberg's mysterious visit to his friend and mentor Bohr's home in Copenhagen. At the time, Heisenberg was working on the Nazi's atomic bomb project. No one really knows what the two scientists talked about. Frayn takes this to the next level by having his characters (the two scientists and Margrethe Bohr) not be sure either. The play incorporates the Uncertainty Principle into its plot. The characters aren't entirely sure what happened or what their motives were.Frayn did quite a bit of research on the subject, which works to the play's advantage. At the centre of the play is a discussion of whether Heisenberg went to Bohr for help to achieve the Nazi's goals or for help in warning the Allies. None of the characters are clear cut and all have flaws and virtues. The science never bogs down the play and is kept uncomplicated and understandable to common people. To me, it actually enhances the plot.

The idea for the play was just that, brillant. It is about a wartime meeting between the physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg when Denmark was under German occupation. Margrethe Bohr, the third character, allowed the two men someone to play against. The characters are "talking ghosts". While based historical record, each character's thoughts were beautifully written based on what had been happening in the world in which they lived. It revealed the moral dilemma both men faced, the influence they had and how they handled the lifetime roles that they were given. I will look for the movie of the play.

An infrequently produced play about a meeting between Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr during WW II. There are copious notes so that you can follow what is historical and what is speculation. Fascinating cat and mouse game as each tries to determine how much the other knows about making an atomic bomb. Definitely helps appreciation of this play to know some undergraduate-level quantum physics.

Thought-provoking, funny, eerie and sad. It portrays the conflict of scientists' curiosity vs conscience, as shown in the relationship of two great physicists (and one's wife) in the lead-up to and aftermath of World War II- but unexpectedly, the debates occur among the characters after their deaths! Awesome.

I'll never forget his novel =The Russian Interpreter=. Nor will I ever forget =Copenhagen=, which does a masterful job of melding human drama with physics. Niels Bohr is, as we know, a very likeable figure, but Heisenberg is not; but Frayn manages to give both of them the contradictions dramatic personae need. The Afterword, I must say, is equally fascinating, Frayn tracing the path to his play and detailing some of the physics referred to in the play. Brilliant.

This book was exactly what my 7-year-old daughter and I were looking for. I appreciate that it's written for the older young child while still keeping each story short enough to read in a quick sitting. So many Bible story books we looked at had stilted writing, left out portions of the story that I'd think would be of particular interest to young people, and had ugly pictures. This book is well-written and does a great job of telling about each event. The illustrations are well-done and inviting. I'm not much for testing kids about every little thing, but my daughter finds the few questions at the end of each story to be fun and looks forward to them. I like the passage provided for the parent which cross references the story to a relative passage in a different book of the Bible as well. Very happy with our purchase.

This little book is an excellent way to share the great Bible stories with your children and grandchildren. They are short - one page - and have a full color illustration for each story to help the child picture and remember the event. Great for bedtime stories or sharing anywhere. The book is light and pocket sized - easily carried in a coat pocket or purse.

I have found some errors in the reporting of the Bible stories. For instance, Noah released a dove, then raven, and lastly, a dove; not just two doves. If you know your Bible stories, you will be able to catch it and correct it. However, I would not feel comfortable allowing my sons to read without me. It does cover the top Bible stories and is a good way to review them. Since I wanted to book to help solidify their knowledge on these stories, I wish I had purchased a different book.

We've read this over and over and over again!! Each story is just one page with 3 questions and an illustration on the page beside it. We love this book!!

Stories were rather brief. There are thought questions at the end of each story. I would have preferred the stories to be more detailed and could have done without the questions. I was looking more for a Bible bedtime storybook. This is not it.

All the stories have been great so far and as far as I can tell, very true to the biblical texts. I really like the questions at the end. They are a little above my 4-yr old's head, but not all of them. I think age 5 and up would be just perfect. It's a little smaller than I envisioned, but no big deal at all.

This is a great Bible story booklet for children, whether you are a parent, grandparent, teacher or Children's Church leader. As a former schoolteacher, I was so pleased it includes comprehension questions as well as verses to remember. Comprehension is one of the problems elementary children have a lot in school.
